Altered: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting is an invitation to all the churches and ministries of Anne Arundel County to start the year by praying and fasting for 21 days from January 4-25, culminating in an all-county worship gathering on February 6 (more info coming soon).

This initiative is inspired by Sammy Foster and Lighthouse Church and facilitated by Awaken AACO, a collaborative vision to see spiritual awakening in Anne Arundel County.

We at Downtown Hope are excited to join the following churches/ministries as we dedicate the first three weeks of 2026 to the spiritual disciplines of prayer and fasting:

  • As followers of Jesus, we grow closer to Him as we block out the world’s noise. Blocking out daily distractions by doing as Jesus called us to do in Luke 9:23 allows us to truly focus on Him and what He may ask of us.

  • Plan + commit.

    Before you begin, commit to a fast and stay determined. Preparation is critical, and it is most effective if you choose one thing to fast from and stick with it!

    Pray.

    Fasting isn’t just about taking something away from our lives. When we fast from things that distract us in our walk with Jesus, we fill that time and space with prayer, ultimately bringing us closer to Him.
