Today is Wednesday, December 19th, 2018. As we begin chapter 7, we find Paul pleading again with the church in Corinth to not slander his name or turn to false teachers. The Corinthians have fallen into a pattern of questioning Paul’s motives for ministry and turning to teachers who preach a false gospel. Paul concludes verse 4 by speaking of the joy he has for the life that many have experienced in Christ, but he implores the church to make room in their heart for him and the message of the one true gospel. -Jon

[2 Corinthians 7:2-4]
2 Make room in your hearts for us. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one. 3 I do not say this to condemn you, for I said before that you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together. 4 I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.
+ WHAT are some of the main ideas that emerge from these verses?
(Use these questions to help make additional observations to clarify the main point)
_ Who is Paul speaking of when he says “us” in verse 2? Think about Paul’s companions in ministry and who Paul was expecting in v.6 (v 2)
_ Why would Paul defend himself in verse 2? (v 2)
_ Where else in 2 Corinthians have we seen Paul appeal to the church to side with him and not with false teachers?
_ What does Paul mean when he says “you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together? (v 3)
_ Have you made room in your heart for the true gospel of Jesus Christ? Or do you “have itching ears that will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,” like the Corinthian church ? 2 Tim 4:3

+ HOW is the Lord calling me to action/obedience? Is there sin to confess, a next step to take, how has it gone since last time?
+ WHO am I walking with and praying for to discover Jesus, what is my next step? (e.g., Build trust by spending time with them, set-up an intentional time to share your story, begin a discovery study on the teachings of Jesus with them)
