Today is Wednesday, February 14th: Happy Valentine’s Day! Make sure you take some time to tell the ones near to you how much you love them. Today we continue with Paul through the book of Romans. Today’s passage might seem bleak, but it provides the background to the greatest act of love mankind has ever known, so do not be discouraged! If this is your first time joining us, I would encourage you to take some time to read what has come before, as to fully understand this small passage, it is helpful to know the context in which it is written. That being said, I pray that our understanding of the gospel will grow deeper and love for Christ will grow stronger. - Peter

(Take time to write down responses to these questions or discuss in your group)
- Have you ever known something was wrong without anyone explicitly telling you so? How did you know?
- How is the Lord impacting someone you are walking with (to help grow in or discover Jesus)

Take some time to thank and praise God for who He is, to pray for those you are walking with, for the needs you/group are facing, and for the Spirit to open your heart and eyes as you read the passage, which has been completely inspired by God.

DISCOVER  [Romans 5:12-14 ]
+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn?
(Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)

12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— 13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.

_ How did sin come into the world? Through whom?
_ What followed sin coming into the world? What are the ways we see this around us?
_ What does it mean that sin is not counted where there is no law?
_ What does it mean that Adam was “a type of the one who was to come?” Who is “the one to come”? Feel free to read ahead if you’re not sure!
_ How does this passage connect to Paul’s overall argument in Romans?

+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience?  (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ What does this passage teach us about our condition apart from Christ? What is my response to this?

+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
