Today is Friday, January 19th, 2018. I hope your new year is off to a great start! Many of us take time in January to reset, refresh, or recalibrate. Hopefully, in doing so, we challenge ourselves as well as dream about what we want to be different this year. My prayer for us is that we could take time to be still, to ask the Lord what HE wants of us, and to make that our priority in 2018! I’m believing He will answer if we ask. - Emma

(Take time to write down responses to these questions or discuss in your group)
- What sinful desires try to take over your heart?
- How has this inner battle brought you closer to the Lord or to a friend?

Take some time to thank and praise God for who He is, to pray for those you are walking with, for the needs you/group are facing, and for the Spirit to open your heart and eyes as you read the passage, which has been completely inspired by God.

+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn?
(Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.

- What does this stir up in your own heart?
- Are there lies about God that you’re believing? (v 25)
- Are there any created things you worship instead of the Creator? (v 25)
- Why do you think “God gave them over to…?” (v 24, 26, 28)

+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience?  (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
- Do you have any friendships in your life where you can work through these human sinful desires?
- Are you actively engaging in the battle for your heart?

+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
