(Take time to write down responses to these questions or discuss in your group)
_ What was the most amazing thing you have ever seen?
_ How is the Lord impacting someone you are walking with (to help grow in or discover Jesus)?
Take some time to thank and praise God for who He is, to pray for those you are walking with, for the needs you/group are facing, and for the Spirit to open your heart and eyes as you read the passage, which has been completely inspired by God.
DISCOVER [Acts 5:12-16]
+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)
12 Now many signs and wonders were regularly done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon's Portico. 13 None of the rest dared join them, but the people held them in high esteem. 14 And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,15 so that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them. 16 The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
_ In Acts 4:30, believers pray the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. How do we see this manifested in today’s passage?
_ Why did the others refuse to join them in verse 13?
_ What did the signs and wonders lead to in verse 14?
_ What about verse 15 witnesses to the Holy Spirit’s power in Peter?
_ How did these signs and wonders influence the surrounding regions of Jerusalem?
_ What does this passage teach us about God’s power? What does this passage teach us about God’s vision for the world and our role in that?
+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience? (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ How do you view the Holy Spirit? Do you believe that you can be used in powerful ways?
_ When God uses us in a powerful way, it can be easy to take credit and grow prideful. When you are used by God, how do you respond?
+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
