Today is Tuesday, September 12. What happens when God, by his power, radically changes someone’s life? We are embedded in families, communities, and societies. All those lives which intersect with ours are brought face-to-face with the goodness and power of God when he acts to change just one person.
(Take time to write down responses to these questions or discuss in your group)
_ Can you remember a specific thing God changed in you, be that a miraculous healing or something which changed in your life due to hearing God’s word?
_ How is the Lord impacting someone you are walking with (to help grow in or discover Jesus)?
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and the comfort of your Holy Word we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
DISCOVER [Acts 3:11-26]
+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)
11 While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's. 12 And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? 13 The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. 14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. 16 And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.
_ Who clung to Peter and John in v11?
_ Why were the people astonished?
_ Who does Peter claim is the source of this miraculous power?
_ What claim does Peter make about Jesus in v15?
17 “And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled. 19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, 21 whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago. 22 Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you. 23 And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.’ 24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days. 25 You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’ 26 God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.”
_ How does Peter see God working through the murderous crime of the people of Jerusalem?
_ How can these people have a chance to repent despite the gravity of their crime?
_ Why is Christ now in heaven? V21
_ What will happen if the people do not repent?

+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience? (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ Have I allowed my story of transformation to be known by others? Have other stories or testimonies of God’s power had an impact on me?
_ God uses people, like Peter and John, to call us to turn to him. Have I been unfairly resistant to those who preach and teach?
+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
