In today’s passage we learn how Jesus empowers us to make disciples of all the nations. Please join us at our gatherings either at 9:00 am or 10:45 am, Sundays. -Peter
(Take time to write down responses to these questions or discuss in your group)
_ Have you ever shared your faith with someone - why or why not and how did it go?
_ How is the Lord impacting someone you are walking with (to help grow in or discover Jesus)?
Take some time to thank and praise God for who He is, to pray for those you are walking with, for the needs you/group are facing, and for the Spirit to open your heart and eyes as you read the passage, which has been completely inspired by God.
DISCOVER [Matthew 28:16-20]
+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
_ What did the disciples do when they saw Jesus? Why the mixed response?
_ What does Jesus say he has in verse 18? How did He receive this authority?
_ Who are the 11 commanded to make disciples of? How is this signified (v. 19b)?
_ What are they to teach them?
_ What empowers us as we carry out Jesus’ commands? Who is with us?
+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience? (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ God has commanded that we go out and make disciples of all the nations. Who is someone in your life that you are discipling, or who could you be discipling?
_ If you are not currently discipling someone, why?
_ Do you trust that Christ is with you as you go out into the world? What does this mean to you?
+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
