Happy Monday! This week begins our final week in 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. We hope you have enjoyed these daily postings as you read and meditate on the Scripture daily, growing in the grace of God. Have you ever had someone direct your heart to something? Today we discover Paul requesting prayer from his friends and directing their hearts to two things we all need to be reminded of.
CONNECT As you create space to listen and learn from Jesus in your personal rhythm and/or when you meet with others in your group take some time to slow down, breath, take revenue of what is happening in your heart, what has happened since last time and share updates on how the Lord is working in the lives of others you are walking with to grow or discover Jesus.
PRAY for the things God has laid on your heart/needs of the group and for others in your circles to meet Jesus.
DISCOVER [ 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 ]
Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, 2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
What is this passage saying, in your own words, and what simple truth do we learn? (i.e., about God, ourselves, a promise, a command, the gospel, etc...)
_ What are Paul's two prayer request for him and his friends in vs. 1 and 2?
_ What reminder does Paul give in vs. 3 as an encouragement to them?
_ What confidence does he say he has for them in vs. 4?
_ What two things does Paul pray their hearts would be directed to in vs. 5?
_ Why does he associate these two things with God and Christ?
_ Why do you think Paul directs their hearts to these two things?
How is the Holy Spirit convicting and compelling you to take a simple step of action? How did your step go from last time?
Who are you walking with that you can you direct to the love of God and Steadfastness of Christ today? What is your next step with them?
