Today is Thursday, May 18th. Good morning. Sometimes it is said that Christians are too preoccupied with what other people do in their bedrooms. Yet for Paul and his fellow writers, what is done in secret is never really secret because in Jesus Christ we are no longer our own, but belong to one another.

CONNECT (Take time to write down responses to these questions or discuss in your group)
_ What did you feel or think when you reflected on yesterday's challenging reading on sexual immorality? What made you come back and want to continue studying this?
_ What is one way the Lord is impacting the life of someone you are walking with (to help grow in or discover Jesus)?

PRAY
_
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

DISCOVER  [ 1 Thes 4:6-8 ] 6 ...that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. 8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Use these questions to help make additional observations to clarify the main point)
_ Look over the previous verses before this passage. What point is Paul continuing?
_ Verse 6 is the third in a list of three things which are 'the will of God for your sanctification'. What are the previous two things?
_ What matter are we not to transgress and wrong fellow Christians in?
_ What is the consequence of not living out God's desire for our purity? Look at the end of verse 8. What are we at risk of losing?
_ Doesn't it seem obvious that God has called his people in holiness and not for impurity? Why might the writers have made this so explicit?

+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and respond to what I learned today with a simple concrete step of action/obedience?  (In groups discuss this in guy/girl break-outs, below are a couple of ideas to help prompt responses if needed)

+ WHO are you walking with that you might pass along or encourage what you learned, with today? (e.g., your family around the dinner table, a friend, co-worker or neighbor you are walking with to discover the message Jesus)
