Happy Mid week!  The Kingdom of God is a term imbued with layers of meaning that can be simply interpreted as God's rule or influence in an area of culture or the world.  In today's reading Jesus uses another botanical metaphor to tell us how God spreads His influence (Kingdom) through the world.

Take some time to pray for those you are walking with to grow or discover Jesus, for the needs you are facing, and for the Spirit to highlight truth as you read.

DISCOVER
26 And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. 27 He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. 28 The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. 29 But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

+ WHAT do these verses describe about the kingdom of God and what do we learn? (Journal and use these questions to help make observations)
_ What do we find growing in vs. 27 and 28?  What do you think this represents?
_ What role does the man play in the plant's development in vs. 26 and vs. 29?

_ What does this teach us about how God's influence (kingdom) spreads and what role we play?
_ Why do you think the Spirit of God inspired Mark to include this passage?

+ HOW does God being the initiator and sustainer of growth in life convict you of an area of sin to confess and action to take?  (In groups discuss this in guy/girl break-outs, use these questions to help)

+ WHO in your life is self-reliant that you might share what you learned with today? (e.g., your family at dinner, a friend, co-worker or neighbor you are walking with to discover the message Jesus)
