Thursday is here! In today's reading Jesus uses another botanical metaphor, this time a kind of seed that expands to tell us how vast and influential God's Kingdom is at it expands in the world.
_ What is one thing you are thankful for over?
_ What is one thing you are struggling with right now?
_ Who has Jesus placed in your life to love and help discover his way (gospel)? How has Jesus been working in their life?
Take some time to pray for those you are walking with to grow or discover Jesus, for the needs you are facing, and for the Spirit to highlight truth as you read.
30 And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, 32 yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” 33 With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it. 34 He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.
+ WHAT do these verses describe about the kingdom of God and what do we learn? (Journal and use these questions to help make observations)
_ What is the metaphor Jesus uses in vs. 31? What does Jesus specify about this particular seed?
_ In vs. 32 what happens to the seed when it grows up?
_ How does the tree effect its surrounding environment?
_ What does this teach us about how God's influence (kingdom) impacts our world?
+ HOW does this truth about God's kingdom convict you of an area of sin to confess and what action is He leading you to take? (In groups discuss this in guy/girl break-outs, use these questions to help)
+ WHO in your life might you share what you learned, with today? (e.g., your family at dinner, a friend, co-worker or neighbor you are walking with to discover the message Jesus)
THESE DAILY POSTINGS ARE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO ABIDE IN JESUS AND FOR GROUPS AS A GUIDE WHEN THEY MEET
