Happy Tuesday! In today's reading Jesus weaves together three different elements of light, hearing and possessions to help us understand his grace.
_ What is one expression of God's grace that he has illuminated (highlighted) to you?
_ What is one area where darkness has crept into your life?
_ Who has Jesus placed in your life to love and help discover his way (gospel)? How is it going?
Take some time to pray for those you are walking with, for the needs you are facing, and for the Holy Spirit to illuminate truth as you read during this time.
21 And he said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? 22 For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” 24 And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. 25 For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”
+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Say it or journal it in your own words or use these questions)
_ In vs. 21-22 what point is Jesus is making about light?
_ In vs. 23-24 what point is Jesus making about hearing?
_ In vs. 25 what point is Jesus making about possessions?
_ How do these three teachings connect?
+ HOW is Jesus calling you to turn from darkness and pay attention today? (In groups discuss this in guy/girl break-outs, use these questions to help)
_ What ways are you susceptible to darkness or not hearing?
_ Where are you hearing the word regularly? Is there any action to be taken?
+ WHO in your life is struggling with an area of darkness that you might share what you learned with today? (e.g., your family at dinner, a friend, co-worker or neighbor you are walking with to discover the message Jesus)
THESE DAILY POSTINGS ARE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO ABIDE IN JESUS AND FOR GROUPS AS A GUIDE WHEN THEY MEET
