+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)

67 And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,
68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
    for he has visited and redeemed his people
69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us
    in the house of his servant David,
70 as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,
71 that we should be saved from our enemies
    and from the hand of all who hate us;
72 to show the mercy promised to our fathers
    and to remember his holy covenant,
73 the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us
74     that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
might serve him without fear,
75     in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

_ What do Zechariah's these recount in vs. 67-75?
     vs. 69? from whose house?
     vs. 70? through whom did he speak?
     vs. 71- who should should we be saved from?
     vs. 72- what are we to remember?
     vs. 73-what promise does he reference?

76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
    for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people
    in the forgiveness of their sins,
78 because of the tender mercy of our God,
    whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high
79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
    to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

_ What does Zechariah speak over his son John in vs. 76-79?
     vs. 76- what will he be called and who will he go before?
     vs. 77- what will he give to his people
     vs. 78- what causes this salvation and forgiveness to be offered?
     vs. 79- what will those who sit in darkness be guided towards?

+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience?  (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ Is there anyone you need to speak words of encouragement to? (your children, a friend, a spouse)
_ Is there anyone you need to thank God for?
_ Is there anyone you need to prepare the way for?

+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
_Who can you share how Jesus is impacting your life that you believe would be open to hearing?
