Today is Wednesday, Dec 20th, 2017. As we read Isaiah 9:7, our verse for today, we see it is only one small segment of a SURPRISING prophecy. Light, joy, freedom, peace, would all be wrapped up in a child; the promised King. This One, this Lord of Angel Armies, would battle to bring RESCUE and REDEMPTION...he would REIGN and RULE perfectly...even though it would cost Him greatly...an inconceivable plan when so many others had failed. - Kim

_ Tell of a time when you were VERY aware of the spiritual battle God’s Word describes. What stirred this awareness?
_ How do you personally prepare for the spiritual battle that surrounds us each day?
_ How is the Lord impacting someone you are walking with to equip them with tools for the daily battle, with Jesus Himself?
Dear Jesus, Lord of Angel Armies, thank you for your servant leadership, for your sovereign hand in the universe, for your precious protection, and your promised peace. As we wait for the final fulfillment of the wholeness and peace you promise, help us sense your Spirit working in our hearts and mind leading us in the way we should go. Help us trust you and obediently follow your voice in the midst of the battle.

+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. ESV - English Standard Version
7 His ruling authority will grow, and there’ll be no limits to the wholeness he brings.
He’ll rule from the historic David throne over that promised kingdom.
He’ll put that kingdom on a firm footing and keep it going
With fair dealing and right living, beginning now and lasting always.
The zeal of God-of-the-Angel-Armies will do all this. - The Message
_ When this verse is put in context, what is the antecedent of the pronoun he/his used in this verse?
_ What will happen when this person, fully God and fully Man enters the world according to this verse?
_ Isaiah reminds us of a promise made to David - someone from his lineage would reign and rule forever. Why might Isaiah specifically refer to this promise in this verse? Why does this matter to you or to I today?
_ What does this passage teach us about Jesus? His sovereignty? His righteousness? His Promise-keeping nature?
+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience? (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ Is there an area of your life that you are battling alone? If so, where and what is your next step this week?
_ Where is Jesus is inviting you to participate in His sovereign plan? His righteousness? His justice? Are you willing to follow even though it costs you something?
_ Is there a place that you are lacking power or strength to stand with Jesus on a firm footing? How will you respond to Jesus who is calling you to put on His armor today...each day?
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. Ephesians 6:13-18
_ How might this obedient action affect you and those who are on the journey with you?
+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
