Today is December 18th, 2017, Happy Monday!  It was a wonderful set of Gatherings we shared in yesterday.  Don't forget our Christmas Eve Gatherings are at 9am and 5pm next Sunday. Today we look at another prophecy concerning the birth of Christ, this one from Isaiah.

(Take time to write down responses to these questions or discuss in your group)
_ Have you ever wished to make a grand entrance somewhere, one that nobody could help but look upon you?
_ How is the Lord impacting someone you are walking with (to help grow in or discover Jesus)

Take some time to thank and praise God for who He is, to pray for those you are walking with, for the needs you/group are facing, and for the Spirit to open your heart and eyes as you read the passage, which has been completely inspired by God.

DISCOVER  [Isaiah 7.10-14 ]
+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn?
(Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)

10 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz: 11 “Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.”13 And he said, “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

_ What does the Lord say to Ahaz in vs. 11?
_ How does Ahaz respond in vs. 12, why do you think he responds the way he does (Deut. 6.16)?
_How does the Lord respond in vs. 13?
_ What is the sign that the Lord will give in vs. 14?
_ Immanuel means "God With Us", what do you think the significance of this word is in this passage and in what is to come?

+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience?  (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ Is there anything the Lord is asking of you that you are not willing to do?  Why?
_ What good-news do we find in the passage in vs. 14, how does this compel you to take action?

+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
_Who can you tell the birth of Jesus to, as God was so humble to present him? Yet he is “Lord at thy birth”. (Freeman, Silent Night)
