Today is Tuesday, November 28. Some people, usually young ones because this is one of those ideas you grow out of, think that love is a kind of magic stirred up by grand rituals like flowers and walks in the mountains. Those who have chosen to love someone for a long time know that love is also the source of hope which takes you through the hardest times too. - Ian

PRAY
O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this day: Defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

DISCOVER  [Romans 5:1-5]

+ WHAT is this passage saying and what do we learn? (Use these questions below each portion of text to clarify the main point)

5 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

_ What is the ‘therefore’ there for? Are you familiar with the preceding thought in Chapter 4?
_ In light of the teaching in Romans 4, what does Paul mean by ‘justification’? What is his idea of ‘faith’?
_ What might the hope of the glory of God mean? Something past, present, or future?
_ How does the explanation of character formation (v3) connect with the future glory of God?
_ Much of what Paul says in these verses concerns our development, maturing, and future. What does he assure us that we possess now?
_ Why does the Christian persevere to live blamelessly, in holiness and goodness?

+ HOW am I compelled to confess sin and how does the gospel compel me to respond with a simple step of action/obedience?  (Here are some thoughts to discuss in break-outs)
_ Have I felt hopeless about some fault of my character?
_ Have I taken God’s grace for granted, missing the hope for a glorious future?
_ Is there a present suffering I can attempt to find hope in?

+ WHO are you walking with to discover or grow in Jesus and what is your next step with them, how can we help?
