Happy Tuesday!  As you create space for solitude in the rhythm of your days, follow this simple pathway to grow into your relationship with Jesus.  These daily readings and questions are designed to encourage you to read the Scripture and discover truth for yourself.  They are also designed for Groups to use any study as a three part guide when they meet.

What am I thankful for today?
What is overwhelming me right now?
How have I been able to take a simple step of personal obedience in Jesus or spend time with those in my life I am intentionally walking with to discover his message?

Spend some time in prayer to offer up thanksgiving for the good, to offer over supplication for the needs, and that the Spirit of Jesus would highlight truth from Scripture and open the hearts and minds of those you are walking with to experience His grace.

After a full few days of ministry in Capernaum we find Jesus practicing something that we don't typically think to do in our culture- hiding away in solitude.  In these verses look for what Jesus is doing, when he is doing it and why he is doing it.

35 And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. 36 And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, 37 and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” 38 And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” 39 And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.

+ WHAT observations do you make about Jesus in these verses?

In vs.35a what does Jesus do?

In vs. 35b when does he do it?

In vs. 35c where does he go?

In vs. 35d what does he do when he gets there?

In vs. 36-37 how do his disciples respond?

In vs.38-  what do we find as the benefit of Jesus taking time away in solitude to pray to his Father based on his response to his disciples?

How are you practicing this kind of rhythm in your life where you are taking solitude to be with Jesus and listen to him through word and prayer?

+ HOW might you respond to Jesus based on this passage today? (Creating space in your calendar for solitude, prayer and word).  Is there any sin you have to repent of? (For Groups ask these questions in guy/girl breaks-outs)

+ WHO might you share what you learned today with? (e.g., a family member, friend, co-worker or neighbor you are walking with to discover the message of Jesus)
