REAL TALK: COMMUNITY

Why it matters + how we live it out.

The essence of community runs deeply within us as humans. We all want to find a sense of belonging with the people around us. People come together for various reasons, often rooted in mutual interests or affinities. What defines a community centered around Jesus, and why does it hold significance? Over the following two weeks, we will delve into these very questions.

REAL TALK: Community | Week 2

September 10, 2023 | AARON MAYHEW

We are physically, emotionally, and spiritually hardwired for deep community with others. Even though we have a deep need for community, it's also the source of some of our deepest pain and frustration. All of us are part of some kind of community and we've learned that it's only a matter of time before someone is hurt, offended, or upset about something. There seems to be "something in the water" that makes community so difficult.

What if there was a way to live in deep community with others that leads to deeper joy, health, and well-being?  In this message, we explore Luke 6:12-36 and Jesus' promise of a new way of community, the components of it, and the power we need to experience it.

REAL TALK: Community | Week 1

September 3, 2023 | JOEY TOMASSONI

Humans beget humans and so from our conception, we are bound together. From this anthropological reality arises a deep and mysterious desire (literally) innate to all people: to be in a relationship with other people. In an individualistic culture, we especially feel this need to be connected but it is also something we must resist.

Why?

Because it inconveniences us, it costs us something, it steals and disrupts the precious control we like to exercise over our lives. If you find yourself disconnected from people and stuck in how to find meaningful community join us this Sunday as Joey walks us through Genesis 2.18 to discover a biblical vision for “why community?”
