About Downtown Hope:

Downtown Hope is a ten year old church located in Downtown Annapolis.  We exist to see Annapolis and the surrounding communities transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. We actively serve our most vulnerable neighbors who live in our public housing neighborhoods, and friends who are disengaged and uninterested in faith or church.  We have almost doubled in size over the past two years, currently we offer two Sunday morning Gatherings and are beginning a third Gathering this Fall.

Our long term vision is for Downtown Hope to grow into a collective of Gatherings across our city, county and region reaching thousands of people for Christ and seeing their lives transformed by the gospel.  We define a Gathering as a local body made up of 50-150 adults that are organizationally part of the larger Downtown Hope family.  Gatherings share a central ecosystem including finances, branding, communications, teaching schedule, discipleship model, beliefs, values and ethos while allowing for unique expression/forms based on the people each Gathering is reaching.  As Gatherings demonstrate health and long term sustainability some may form into autonomous local churches.

Our approach to this vision is to follow the New Testament pattern of reaching a geography with the gospel.  We will do this by sending out teams of believers that will reach and form new disciples among a subgroup of our population (80% are disengaged, de-churched or unchurched).  From these disciples we will identify and develop local leaders and pastors to form and lead new simple Gatherings. Each local Gathering in turn will send out new teams to form new disciples in a new area or neighborhood.  We believe that reaching this vision begins with Downtown Hope flourishing as a model church which is why we are seeking to hire a strong, Christ like, Executive Pastor.
